Every year since 2001 the Water Research Foundation (WRF) has recognized a rising water-quality researcher with a Paul L. Busch Award. This year’s winner is Belinda Sturm, Director of Kansas NSF EPSCoR and professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering at the University of Kansas.
Professor Sturm will use the $100k award to study the removal of pathogens and microplastics from wastewater, working in partnership with the city of Lawrence, Kansas, and the Metro Water Recovery in Denver, Colorado.

Thank you @lawrenceks for your support in hosting my research, which has been pivotal for @KUCEAE and recognition for the @WaterResearch Paul Busch award. So glad that Leah Morris (Engr extraordinaire) could join me for this award luncheon. pic.twitter.com/dkrUVzwOJ1
