On July 11 the ARISE Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program hosted a training workshop at the University of Kansas for a total of 12 undergraduate students: 5 from the University of Kansas, 5 from Kansas State University, and 2 from Wichita State University.
KU Assistant Research Professor of Data Science William Duncan led the workshop at Gray-Little Hall. Through a series of hands-on activities, the students learned how to do a common statistical analysis method known as regression. The group used Excel and R/RStudio to analyze example data for several applications with laptops that were provided by the Kansas Data Science Consortium, an ARISE-funded initiative launched in 2022.
