ARISE Strategic Planning Workshop

August 29-30, 2022

Hosted by the University of Kansas and the Kansas NSF EPSCoR Office, this working meeting welcomes faculty and key partners affiliated with the ARISE project.

At this two-day meeting, participants will work together to turn the NSF proposal for ARISE into a Strategic Plan. Much like a roadmap, this document serves to guide the team as you put ARISE initiatives into practice. While the task is daunting, taking the time now to create a strategic plan enhances the likelihood that the project achieves its goals.

Who should attend? Meeting participants must include the project director, co-principal investigators, management team members, research theme leaders, the external evaluator, participants responsible for key project elements, and at least one person to represent each subaward.

Your contributions to this meeting are critical to its success. Please arrange to participate fully without distraction.

Parking Permits

All attendees must have a parking permit to park on campus.

  • If you are staying at the Oread Hotel, you may park there and walk to Slawson Hall (0.9 miles; ~17 minute walk, map).
  • If you are driving to campus and don’t already have a permit, you must register your car at the link below for a permit to park in the Allen Fieldhouse Parking Garage (map). ARISE will pay for these permits.

  • 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm: Reception and teambuilding at the Oread Hotel

Tuesday, August 30, 2022

  • 8:00 am – Coffee/tea, continental breakfast, meet & greet
  • 8:30 am – 11:45 am: Working sessions
  • 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm: Discussion (with catered lunch)
  • 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm: Afternoon breakouts
  • 5:00 pm: Meeting Adjourned

Kansas NSF EPSCoR will pay for the hotel rooms and reimburse mileage costs for participants traveling from out of town to Lawrence, Kansas, for this meeting.
